Ingredients
- 200 g Khoa
- 400 g Bread - Sandwich
- 100 Ml Govind Ghee
- 20 g Cardamom Powder
- 100 g Icing Sugar
- 1 g Saffron
- 500 g Sugar
Instructions
- 1. Crumble 1 cup of mawa (khoya) into a bowl. Add 2 tbsp powdered sugar, 2 tbsp chopped nuts (like almonds, pistachios, or cashews), and 1/4 tsp cardamom powder. Mix well to prepare the stuffing.
- 2. Take 6 slices of white bread and trim off the edges. Use a rolling pin to flatten each slice evenly.
- 3. Place 1-2 tbsp of the mawa stuffing at one end of each flattened bread slice. Roll the bread tightly to enclose the stuffing and form a cylindrical roll. Seal the edges with a little water to prevent the roll from opening.
- 4. Heat 1 cup of ghee in a deep pan over medium heat. Once the ghee is hot, deep-fry the rolls in batches until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
- 5. In another pan, prepare sugar syrup by boiling 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water together for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened. Add a pinch of saffron and 1/4 tsp cardamom powder to the syrup for flavor.
- 6. Dip each fried roll into the warm sugar syrup and coat evenly. Let them soak for 1-2 minutes, then remove and place them on a serving plate.
- 7. Garnish the rolls with a sprinkle of chopped nuts or edible silver leaf. Serve warm or at room temperature.
