In a mixing bowl, add two cups of gram flour, Add ½ teaspoon of carrom seeds. Sprinkle salt to taste. Also, add a teaspoon of alkaline salt. This will ensure crispiness to the fafda.

Add three teaspoons of oil to the gram flour, and mix well. Now slowly add water and prepare a dough. Finally, add a teaspoon of oil and finish the dough.

The dough prepared should neither be hard nor very soft. It should be elastic and shiny.

Heat oil in a pan. Keep the flame low or medium. Prepare small balls of the dough and keep them ready.

Take a working board and place one ball of dough at a time and with the edge of your palm, stretch the dough into an elongated thin layer.

Use a very thin knife and gently scrape the layer of dough out from the board without breaking it.

Put them in the heated oil, one by one. You can add 4-5 at a time and let them cook at low flame, a small bubble-like structure should be formed on the fafda while cooking.

Fafda is ready. Let’s now prepare the salad to go with it.
For Papaya Chutney:

Take a cup of raw peeled and grated papaya. Chop 2-3 green chilies.
